Long time no post!

Spring is here and I guess it's time to start posting again! With Winter comes hybernation and drabness. I just didn't have a lot to say or a lot going on. With the temperatures rising and things greening up outside, I should have more to say!

Let's see, what is going on at the current moment. Anybody who has talked to us this week knows that we have been having privacy fence drama.  The fence went up last Fall and we were told to wait 9 weeks and then thru the cold weather before we put a weatherproofer/stain on it.  Well, that time came in the past month.  First of all, ignore what anyone tells you about how much stain you will need for a project.  In fact, you can pretty much more than double the amount.  lol  We started out buy painting on the "Cedar Naturaltone" Behr stain a couple of weeks ago.  We quickly realized that it was going to take forever at that rate.  We thought about rolling it on (even bought some supplies), but that idea wasn't gonna work either since our fence is made with such rough boards.  Lanny goes out last week and buys a paint sprayer.  The thing is pretty awesome actually.  Neither of us had ever used one and it was really simple to use....even comes with an instructional DVD on it's use and care.  Ok...now the real saga begins.... I will keep it short.  Last Saturday we used up all the stain we had quickly.  Lanny went back and bought more.  To make a long story short, the STORE MANAGER who mixed the stain, mixed the wrong color for us.  It's one shade lighter than what we wanted.  So, a good half of our fence (mostly the outside) is the wrong color.  Yippee!  Here are a couple of pictures from my cell phone that show the color difference (the lighter color is wrong...the orangey brown is the right color).

Unfortunately, we didn't realize how wrong it was until I was doing some touching up like on the gate in the picture.  Needless to say, that store manager is giving us all the stain we need to fix his mistake for free and he credited us back for the stain that was mixed wrong in the first place.  We really just want to have all this done ASAP!

Let's see, what else can I share.  Oh, mom and I have been busying planning a baby "celebration" for my brother & sister-in-law.  It's coming up in April.  I have been very busy with lots of projects for it that I can't wait to share with everyone.  Not 'til after the shower though since it's all a big secret.  ;o)  I can share the invitation though since they have already been mailed.  Yep, designed by me.  Our theme is baby elephants and the colors baby blue and chocolate brown.

The invitation design business has been doing well.  I had several projects within the past few weeks.  Tis the season for weddings and babies!  I love it!  I have also starting doing some design work for my church.  I'm excited about the possibilities with that.  A chance to share of my time and talents and make an impact.

I hope to start posting more regularly again as I start getting flowers out (already put some violas out), we get our fence fixed/finished, and I'll definitely have post-baby celebration pictures to share!

God Bless!
Alicia
